THE SUNDAY AMBLERS

Following a successful walk in the Summer of 1984 by a group of local people to a neighbouring village as part of a Christian Aid Sponsored Walk the idea arose of organising a similar event on a monthly basis.

The idea took root and from then until 2006 a monthly walk took place as envisaged. In 2007 it was decided to reduce the number of walks to the second Sunday in February, April, June, August, and October.

The walks start from Northill village pond at 2.15 pm from where we head off by cars to the start within around ten miles. The route is invariably circular of about four miles. The walk is always advertised in the Northill Parish Magazine or may be obtained by telephoning the “Clerk“, Martin Turner, on 01767 627334.

By tradition a winter walk is held on the morning of December 27th ending up with a pub lunch. No special equipment is needed for any of the events other than stout walking boots or shoes and waterproof clothing. A warm welcome awaits anyone who decides to give us a try!
